Pharmaceutical care of a case with vertebral osteomyelitis of Coxiella burnetiid

Abstract: Objective To explore the starting point where clinical pharmacists can carry out pharmaceutical care for patients with special infections by studying one case of Coxiella burnetii vertebral osteomyelitis. Methods Clinical pharmacists participated in the treatment of one case of lumbar spine infection caused by Coxiella burnetii, assisted clinicians in analyzing the patient's history and etiology, proposed medications with sensitive drugs, provided sustainable pharmaceutical care for the patient, got involved in evaluating the therapeutic effect, and kept adjusting the drug treatment plans. Results and Conclusion Clinical pharmacists assisted doctors in opting for medications and ensuring stable improvement of the patient' conditions. Clinical pharmacists can do much to ensure the safety of medications by participating in a treatment team and starting with rare site infections caused by special pathogens.
