Discussion on traditional Chinese medicine theory and modern pharmacology of Xuanfei Baidu decoction for treating novel coronavirus infection

Abstract

Abstract: Objective To discuss the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory of Xuanfei Baidu decoction in treating novel coronavirus infection, summarize the experimental study of this prescription, and provide reference for later clinical and experimental purposes. Methods Using the methods of theoretical research and literature investigation, this paper discusses and summarizes the TCM theory of Xuanfei Baidu decoction and summarizes the experimental study. Results Xuanfei Baidu decoction is suitable for patients with dampness-toxic stagnation of lung. And the PD-1/IL17A, IL-6/STAT3 and CXCL2/CXCR2 pathways were used to ameliorate lung injury and NF-κB pathway to alleviate intestinal diseases. Conclusion Xuanfei Baidu decoction is a combination of TCM and science and technology, which is supported by both TCM theory and modern experimental research evidence.
