Research Progress on Prevention and Treatment of Respiratory Virus Infectious Diseases with Traditional Chinese Medicine

Abstract

Abstract: In recent years, a number of pandemics caused by respiratory viruses have killed tens of thousands of people.The outbreak of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19, 2019) has posed a serious threat to human health due to its long period of incubation and high contagiousness. So far, no safe and effective specific drugs have been developed at home and abroad.Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has become a hot spot of research due to its rich experience, extensive drug sources and unique treatment. This paper summarized some of the intensively-studied fields related to prevention and treatment of respiratory virus infectious diseases with traditional Chinese medicine from the perspective of monomer components, single Chinese medicine and compound preparations in order to advance our understanding of the research of Chinese medicine against viruses.
