  • Errata and Retraction Procedures for Chinese Journal of Pharmacovigilance

    To ensure the standardized operation of Chinese Journal of Pharmacovigilance, consolidate the ideological position, guarantee the authenticity, accuracy and scientific validity of published contents, safeguard academic ethics and normal publishing order, and in accordance with the Regulations on the Administration of Periodical Publication, the workflow for errata and retraction is formulated as follows.

    I. Errata

    (I) Types of Errata

    1. Content errors: including mistakes in individual data, measurement units or wording in the main text, figures, tables, references and their in-text citations; ambiguous expressions that hinder readers’ comprehension.
    2. Typesetting and proofreading errors: including misplacement, omission and redundant layout; ambiguous expressions that hinder readers’ comprehension.

    (II) Application Procedures

    1. Application procedure for content error errata Authors may identify content errors and submit an errata application voluntarily. Alternatively, readers or the Editorial Department may detect such errors and notify the authors. The author shall complete the Errata Application Form and submit it to the Editorial Department via email, and the corresponding article editor shall process the application in accordance with procedures.
    2. Application procedure for typesetting and proofreading error errata Authors may identify typesetting and proofreading errors and submit an errata application voluntarily. Alternatively, readers or the Editorial Department may detect such errors. After verification, the article editor shall fill in the Errata Application Form, follow relevant procedures, and notify the author by email.

    (III) Approval and Implementation of Errata

    Upon receiving or completing the Errata Application Form, the Editorial Department shall submit it to relevant supervisors for approval. Once approved, designated staff of the Editorial Department shall implement the errata: submit relevant documents to the official website of Chinese Journal of Pharmacovigilance, CNKI, CQVIP, Wanfang Data and other Chinese and English databases; publish an errata statement in the issue of the journal where the error is identified.

    II. Retraction

    (I) Types of Retraction

    1. Author-initiated retraction: retraction applied for voluntarily by the author(s).
    2. Editorial-initiated retraction: When the Editorial Department identifies issues on its own, or receives notifications from higher authorities, complaint handling authorities, infringed parties, authors, readers and other parties, and confirms that the article involves ideological problems, political errors, issues concerning scientific validity, authenticity or accuracy, plagiarism, infringement, information leakage and other violations, the Editorial Department shall retract the article in compliance with the Regulations on the Administration of Periodical Publication and the Copyright Agreement of Chinese Journal of Pharmacovigilance.

    (II) Application Procedures

    1. Application procedure for author-initiated retraction The author shall complete the Retraction Application Form affixed with the official seal of the affiliated institution, submit it to the Editorial Department via email, and the corresponding article editor shall process the application in accordance with procedures.
    2. Application procedure for editorial-initiated retraction If the Editorial Department confirms that an article involves ideological problems, political errors and similar serious issues after verification, the article editor shall fill in the Retraction Application Form, submit it to supervisors for approval, and implement retraction immediately. A formal notification stamped with the Editorial Department seal shall be sent to the author by email.

    If the Editorial Department confirms that an article involves academic or other grounds for retraction after verification, the article editor shall notify the author by email.

    • If no reply is received within 7 working days, it shall be deemed that the author consents to retraction. The article editor shall complete the Retraction Application Form, submit it for leadership approval, carry out retraction procedures, and send a sealed notification to the author via email.
    • If a reply is received within 7 working days, a handling plan shall be formulated based on actual circumstances and submitted to supervisors for approval.

    (III) Approval and Implementation of Retraction

    Upon receiving or completing the Retraction Application Form, the Editorial Department shall submit it to relevant supervisors for approval. Once approved, designated staff of the Editorial Department shall implement the retraction: submit relevant materials to the official website of Chinese Journal of Pharmacovigilance, CNKI, CQVIP, Wanfang Data and other Chinese and English databases to withdraw the manuscript; carry out public notice of information (including but not limited to releasing retraction information in the Editorial Announcement section on the journal website, and publishing a retraction statement in the journal issue released in the month when retraction is confirmed).
