Abstract: Puerarin, as one of the important active components of pueraria lobato(Wild) Ohwi.,puerarin(4',7-dihydroxy-8-C-β-D-gluco-isoflavone) has broad pharmacological activities, such as vasodilating function, distinct improving brain microcirc ulation, peripheral circulation, etc. It is applied clinically for cardiovascular diseases, such as cardiac angina, miocardial infarction, blood hyperviscosity, etc. However the puerarin's clinical application had been restricted because of its bad water solubility and liposolubility. So it seemed urgent to improve its solubility and to make structural modification to puerarin to get good character derivates of puerarin. This review describes the structural modification of puerarin recently in order to provide the reference for the study on puerarin in the future.
